OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN

One of my first most popular articles was my “Competition in Politics Hurts Everyone”. It was my attempt at a mode of public discourse I like to call “Constructivist”. This is one example of how I see “Constructivist discourse” being lived out.

Here’s the text in case the photo is not so readable:

Dear Senator McCain,

I voted for Barack Obama in 2008, but I admired you greatly. I thought you had strong ideals, an amazing personal story, and you spoke and interacted with everyone you met with candor and integrity.

In light of this present election cycle — I miss you. I really appreciated you speaking out against Michelle Bachman’s false attacks against Huma Abedin. The McCain-Feingold act is still a landmark act.

No matter what happens this November, I want to support you in all your efforts to bring sanity and compromise and civility to Washington. I believe that is President Obama’s goal as well. I really hope and pray that you and he might partner on a Constitutional Amendment that would overturn Citizens United forever.

Sincerely,

Matt Cromwell
